What is wrong with my computer if ads come up where pictures should be?

I think I have some sort of virus or spyware but it seems like I can't delete it. I have tried Spybot and CWShredder and I still have it. First (ironically) anti-spyware ads will randomly appear where pictures should be. For example, when I type in a search string on YouTube, all of the "preview" stills of the videos quickly turn to the anti-spyware ads. Second, I tend to get adult ads on my screen that even have music (it says something like "free" and there are three females dancing with no clothes on). Does anyone know what the problem is/how I can get rid of it?

twoxsmart327, Your PC needs a good cleaning. Follow these steps in this order.

Ewido.

Go to the left of the page where it says,"Scan your computer now online

and clean it for free!"

These scans may take a while to clean up your PC. Be patient.

Use some other software. Norton, AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

I feel for you, but don't worry too much about it. It's all reversible.

I wrote an article about the very thing you're having a problem with, and as you mentioned, free is sometimes just that... and you get what you pay for.
