I have a "free" disc from thinkall.com that I am not sure I trust it doesn't have spyware on it. I have not installed it yet. Is there a way to check it for spyware before I actually install "use" it? Someone suggested I scan it first with a program such as AVG, but I do not know how to do that either. Any suggestions?

your spy ware scanner should allow you to scan any drive including your disc drive when there is a disc inserted
You should have an anti-virus program installed on your computer. Open the program and find the "scan" setting that would scan the drive that you will put the CD into. Put in the CD, hold the shift key as you close the drawer and keep holding it until the access light stops flashing.(I've had this work one time and not the next) if the CD has mixed media, you will get a pop-up that asks what you want to do. Click the "Take no action" setting at the bottom. Then tell your anti-virus program to scan the CD.
