What is wrong with my computer?

When i am doing anything on my computer it freezes for about 5 seconds and then it will be fine. There is no order that it does this in. At first this only happened when i started playing counter strike. I figured that this was the reason and then I tried watching a movie and it did it then too. I tried defragging scanning for spyware and adware. I cleaned the disks. I have tried to free up space on my harddrive and nothing works. I hope you can tell me whats wrong.

You may be short on memory. When my memory went down from 256 to 128, it would freeze up all the time.

RAM - try closing everything you don't need. You can also remove items from your startup. Just go Start --%26gt; Run --%26gt; msconfig --%26gt; Press enter --%26gt; Once there, you should see a "startup" or "startup items" tab. Click it. --%26gt; Now, click "disable" or "uncheck all." Then, go back through and check the ones that you know you need, like your Antivirus and AntiSpyware. Then click apply and OK.
Sounds like a faulty piece of hardware about to go out.

Check your event viewere logs to see if you have anything in there in relations as to which hardware piece might be experiencing the issue.
Your problem is that you are stressing out your CPU. Some programs demand everything that the CPU can handle. A lot of instructions at the same time takes the CPU to 100% usage. If the situation remains, the computer freezes and if it stays like that longer, then it shuts down to protect itself and show you the dreaded "blue error screen". I suggest the buy more DDR memory, as much as you motherboard can handle. That, in itself will limit the amount of work the CPU will do transfering data back and forth to the hard disk and your will improve your game.
Sounds like you are low on memory. You don't say anything about what you have, so you make everybody guess. Try clearing out anything unnecessary from your startups.
