I got a Dell a few years ago, but for the past 1 - 1.5 years, the fan is incredebly loud. It's not hitting against anything, it's just circulating air really really fast.
I have 60% free space, eliminated useless background programs, defragged, cleared files, performed a virus/spyware scan and found nothing, and this thing is still going like I have 10000 programs running.
What's wrong with this peice of Dell junk?
Note: It's not loud at all when I start it up, only once I start a program, such as IE.
Dell computer fan, is it always so loud?free adware remover
It sounds like you have a fan going out. is it a PC or A laptop? if it's a PC remove the two screws holding the side panel on slide the panel back and look at the external cooling fan, if their is a lot of dirt that could be the problem, also look at the CPU Fan if it's dirty then blow it out with air, since you said it's been loud for at least a year that means you have noticed a change in the sound from what it used to sound like and is getting worse with time. If it's a external fan spray a little WD-40 0n the fan without it running, start it up if it does not make noise you know the problem, (bad fan) you can buy fans at any computer shop for 5 to 10 bucks. if the Processor fan is going out you Can buy a new one just remove the clips remove the fan wire and take a spin down to staples or any computer shop buy a new one. If the CPU fan is replaced be sure to put the special processor grease on it. Good Luck. and happy computing.
