I'm going to install Limewire, but I have heard from Wikipedia that it also comes with Kazaa, and that Limewire alone could carry spyware, etc. Also, despite all the spyware, malware, adware, etc., that Kazaa can carry, is the current version now safer than it is? The website says that it won't carry spyware, etc., and all that other good stuff. But is it really true? Is all of what I said really true? Because if something bad happens to my computer, I can't afford to get it fixed!!! Is Limewire safe to download? Do you have to pay? Does anything else come with Limewire after the free download?!
About Limewire...?antivirus download
Limewire does not come with Kazaa. They are two separate peer-to-peer file sharing programs.
Either one is definitely a security risk, but it largely depends on what you download. Viruses are always a problem, and you never really know what you're downloading on a p2p network. Therefore, if you do download anything be sure to thoroughly scan it before you open it. Also, Limewire and Kazaa make your computer a target for hacking attempts. If you are going to use either, be sure you have a good firewall software installed.
You do not have to pay for Limewire, however it will ask you if you want to buy the "Pro" version which is really nothing special. Nothing comes with Limewire, but Limewire allows you to download anything on its network for free. Beware, though: this does not give you license to violate copyright law, and if you download music, videos or copyrighted software you leave yourself open to lawsuits.
